Meritt McKittrick

In 2006, at just 5 years old, Meritt McKittrick from Texas was involved in a car accident that confined her to a wheelchair, with an 85% chance she'd never walk again. Despite her early trauma, she never let herself feel different or less than her peers. However, the real challenges came during her teenage years. Sleepovers, outings, things most teens consider normal were hurdles for her. Yet, Meritt's spirit remained unbreakable.

Come 8th grade, a new passion ignited within her: wheelchair sports. She joined the track and field team, even making it to the State meet in Austin as a freshman. Although she didn't place that year, Meritt's competitive spirit had her more determined than ever. By her sophomore year, she bagged two third-place medals. Meritt's coaches often told her to race with her heart, pushing her to always expect more from herself.

As a fervent sports fan, particularly of college baseball, Meritt admired the Texas A&M team. But during the College World Series, she was drawn to another team, LSU, and more specifically, to a player named Cole. Inspired by his story and his motto 'Heart Has No Limit', she felt a kinship. This phrase, Meritt realized, encapsulated her life's journey. It wasn't just a slogan for athletes but a universal call to action.

Meritt's story is a testament to the belief that our hearts truly have no limits. Regardless of circumstances, with determination, anyone can redefine their destiny.

“We all should have a right to do the things we love and if we don't, we should push even harder to get it. I absolutely love your motto 'Heart Has No Limit' and I will keep it in my head while going to compete this year. It is honestly something that I think not only athletes, but everyone, needs to keep that in mind when wanting something.”
